Wrap Field Trip

On this field trip I saw that there are different types of turbines and anemometers so we could try to put up another one. Also we aren't the only school having problems with city regulations, and we should learn from our peers. I think that we have some ways to go in understanding and getting waynesboro to understand just what we are trying to do, and making the world a more efficient place to live.

Modern Lit. Sex slavery

Sex slavery in the world particularly in America is inhumane. I believe that all people should be supported through hardships because life is not easy, and having a helping hand can make all the difference. People though, are forever judgmental and can never fully accept people and aren't as supporting. People constantly said in the article Enslaved in America "I can't count the number of times people have asked me "why didn't you just leave?" "Couldn't you escape?" To that, I simply say "do you ask a child that is kidnapped why they didn't try to leave?"  I feel family is the strongest form of support you can have. I feel family can bring anyone comfort and family can be blood or not blood related. I also believe that women who have been sexually trafficked lose hope much too soon. Hope can provide comfort even in the most drastic of times. I think it's good to have organizations and laws that protect and support the victims like the Polaris Project and TVPA. They do what most people don't have the courage and decency to do.

Wrap: City Code

Dear City Council members,

The fact that we take so much for granite is an injustice on its own, but when high school students try to bring about change for the better and are shot down what does that say about our fair city? Over the years our environment and the resources we've grown accustomed to using have become growing concerns. As of today there is no installed wind power in Virginia. More than half of the states so far have had wind power installed leaving us behind in the evolution of technology. Our state has no wind energy manufacturing facility. Solar energy is more prominent. We have certain businesses that deal with solar energy, and it's installation. The state of Virginia is a fairly good state for solar energy. The Wind for Schools program can take Virginia to the next step. The program gives schools a chance to work with wind energy to advance our country.  To better ourselves as a country we must first stop and take the time to let our youth shine through. Let us not discriminate against age, but take the next step to a brighter future!
