Wrap Field Trip

On this field trip I saw that there are different types of turbines and anemometers so we could try to put up another one. Also we aren't the only school having problems with city regulations, and we should learn from our peers. I think that we have some ways to go in understanding and getting waynesboro to understand just what we are trying to do, and making the world a more efficient place to live.

Modern Lit. Sex slavery

Sex slavery in the world particularly in America is inhumane. I believe that all people should be supported through hardships because life is not easy, and having a helping hand can make all the difference. People though, are forever judgmental and can never fully accept people and aren't as supporting. People constantly said in the article Enslaved in America "I can't count the number of times people have asked me "why didn't you just leave?" "Couldn't you escape?" To that, I simply say "do you ask a child that is kidnapped why they didn't try to leave?"  I feel family is the strongest form of support you can have. I feel family can bring anyone comfort and family can be blood or not blood related. I also believe that women who have been sexually trafficked lose hope much too soon. Hope can provide comfort even in the most drastic of times. I think it's good to have organizations and laws that protect and support the victims like the Polaris Project and TVPA. They do what most people don't have the courage and decency to do.

Wrap: City Code

Dear City Council members,

The fact that we take so much for granite is an injustice on its own, but when high school students try to bring about change for the better and are shot down what does that say about our fair city? Over the years our environment and the resources we've grown accustomed to using have become growing concerns. As of today there is no installed wind power in Virginia. More than half of the states so far have had wind power installed leaving us behind in the evolution of technology. Our state has no wind energy manufacturing facility. Solar energy is more prominent. We have certain businesses that deal with solar energy, and it's installation. The state of Virginia is a fairly good state for solar energy. The Wind for Schools program can take Virginia to the next step. The program gives schools a chance to work with wind energy to advance our country.  To better ourselves as a country we must first stop and take the time to let our youth shine through. Let us not discriminate against age, but take the next step to a brighter future!

WRAP: Data

The study showed that when singers are put in a choir they tend to blend together and sing according to everyone else. When they sing solo they tend to tune to the piano. Both soloists and choir singers are stronger in certain areas, and weaker in other areas. They both seem to focus on certain aspects of their voices to make them stronger soloists/choir singers.

Math Post

So this math class in general is a bit different.I find the math to be quite the same as most of the math i've done in the past year. Even though math isn't my best subject it is a tad "fun". I think that its more challenging than anything and my grade right now seems to show it. I'm sure that this class will become easier in time with patience. I have all the hope in the world that this class will get better in time, I just have to wait for the chance to present itself.

Book Soundtrack

Protagonist
Yo-Yo Ma---   Moses and Marco Polo Suite
This song describes the protagonist "   " well because of her love for classical music. She also played the cello and maintained a very strong connection with it. She actually loved Yo-Yo Ma and once her boyfriend took her to see him in concert. The elegance of the piece describes the simplicity and yet majesty of the combination of the instruments.

Climax
Eric Whitacre--- A Boy and a Girl
The song "A Boy and a Girl" tells a story about one boy loving a girl and all their feelings. The beautiful description of their journey through love paints one magnificent portrait. I chose this song just for that simple reason. The climax had to deal with Adam and Mia, and it perfectly depicts them in a romantic state of mind.

Theme
I Won't Give Up--- Jason Mraz
Mia and her love of all that she holds dear is scattered. Her immediate family dies and she is on the brink. The moment the rest of her family tells her they love her and Adam comes she realizes they won't give up on her. Adam especially brought unwavering love to Mia and I believe that throughout this entire book the song "I Won't Give Up" shows the heart of the book.

Random Scene
I Am Not Yours--- Z Randall Stroope
The flashbacks to when Mia and Adam would go out on dates and he would watch her in school and take her places is described perfectly by the song "I Am Not Yours". It speaks poetry into the hearts of anyone and it demonstrates love at its finest. I think that  the tranquil nature and also sensational tone can captivate anyone. It truly shows the love in these parts of the book.

Random Scene
I Will Remember You---- Sarah Mclachlan
This song has to do with the part of the book when Mia is in the hospital bed. She has her family come visit her and tell each talk to her. They all really say the same thing really, and that is even if she chooses to die they will always remember her. I believe this song ties in strongly to this.

Case Study 1

I agree with the studies accuracy. Most of the reason that they brought up probably played a main role in their decisions. Depression and things in that nature can do a lot of damage to a person and no one really knows when they'll break. If I could ask any questions it would be "what do their parents think?" I saw a movie that dealt with a parents point of view after a shooting and it is extremely hard. This study shows that in our school we could have some of the same things happen. We would never know though, people aren't really open in the way of speaking on their feelings.

WRAP: Solar blog

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/08/02/germany-solar-idUSL6E8J2LNQ20120802
http://energy.gov/

  • Germany has produced more solar power than the US because they recently installed over 4,300 MegaWatts of  solar power bringing them to 28,000 MW
  • The government has mandated incentives that they used for this.

  • I could save money energy wise mostly in lighting my house and the vast amount of things we have plugged in we can unplug them.

  • Solar energy might be a bit of a problem considering trees block most of my house so it may be a tad bit complicated.

  • I think the US will be more accepting of it later on but right now people don't really understand or look to much into it because green products are more expensive. I think more people would be more willing to integrate is for the cost to be less expensive.
  • If boats could some how have solar panels on them then store the energy I believe it would help in that area of solar production, Considering that the ocean is constantly getting sun without much blockage

Response to the oblivious... Sex

http://theweek.com/article/index/216704/should-parents-allow-teen-sex-at-home

Should Parents Allow Teen Sex At Home
     By Jezebel

"One mom, Patty Skudlarek, told Good Morning America that if her 18-year-old son is going to have sex, she wants him to get off in the safety of his own bedroom, "as opposed to a motel, a car or a park, or wherever they're doing it these days." Are these parents being too permissive?"

First off, having sex is undeniable because the human body demands it. It is nearly uncontrollable and unpredictable. I believe these parents such as Patty are making smarter moves. Eventually whether anyone likes it or not these teens will have sex. That is the nature of things now a days. Those parents blinded by their elders, who forced stronger morals than those today, will be in for a rude awakening when they find out their kids are having sex somewhere anyway. Besides that not having sex at home can always be more risky! The things that happen outside of your safe little home that you cannot control are just waiting for your teen to be caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Anything can happen at anytime and in any place, I just believe the parents keeping it at home are trying to make it a bit more safe and controlled.

Article response

10 smartphone habits you should avoid
By Andrea Bartz and Brenna Ehrlich

"That's right, we're talking about how annoying and rude and antisocial we've all become with our smartphones and tablets. As CNN investigates all the ways mobile devices are changing our lives."

I believe this statement has is too overreactive. First off, anyone can be annoying and rude whether or not they have a smartphone! Our emotions make sure that we feel every possible emotion so we're bound to show them eventually. Secondly, people have a number of reasons they are antisocial. Some people are bullied and don't want to be put in that situation. Others could have trust issues, depressed, hateful, anything can play a part in antisocial behavior. As for investigating the changes in our lives, why not look at the positives. More parts of the world are now connected and people can tell their stories instead of being in the dark and having to travel through their adversities alone. Technology has brought people closer to their lost family members and loved ones as well. Trying to judge the malevolent nature of smartphones without any regard for the lighter side of things can be a bit "annoying" and "rude" don't you think?!

Reflection on yesterday: Mod Lit.

My views on the topics yesterday are unchanging. The people committing such heinous crimes against humanity are disrespectful and unjust. Those poor souls have fallen victim to the evil that sin brings into your life the further you travel away from the light. Though they may be evil and cold at the heart they don't deserve the punishment we intend on dealing them. Most people said they should be tortured, but I believe otherwise. I believe that torture only brings evil into your heart and makes you just as bad as they are. Don't take someone else's fate into your own hands. You are nothing but a being that is not capable of bearing the weight of inhumane actions on your shoulders. I believe they will get what they deserve but that decision is not mine nor anyone else's on this earth for that matter. Judgement comes to all souls even the righteous, but another righteous soul cannot decide whether or not they deserve to walk through the gates of heaven. Keep in mind, we all fall short of glory and we all do sin.

WRAP Green

http://www.fs.usda.gov/4fri
http://www.conservationnw.org/what-we-do/forests/forest-restoration
http://www.wri.org/project/forest-landscape-restoration

The websites above are related to forest restoration. Restoring forests can play a big part in our environment
the inhabitants involved with it. Saving forests saves everything from the ozone and our atmosphere to the
Animals that live within the habitats. A project that we could do around waynesboro is restore the areas where
The recent storms have ravaged through the forests.

3 questions I would have are:
Where are some forests near here
Would people be willing to help
Would people be willing to go somewhere else in the state to restore other forests

We can find a forest to move forward in steps.

Aurasma WRAP

I would use aurasma for jobs resumes and things regarding work not so much personal life. This could be the next step but it has a lot of problems and isn't very efficient. If it were to be helpful in any way it will need more work.

Wrap: Home Health Care

1. Home health care is basically providing health care services at your own home. Clients are people who are either ill or injured or unable to be self-sufficient.
2. Home health care is less expensive than hospitals so the demand is higher and some people may not be able to leave their homes.
3. Some positives would be meeting new people, traveling places, experiencing different personalities. The more challenging part may be adjusting to some people's life styles and how they want to be treated.
4. I would not consider home health care because my distinct characteristics can be a bit overwhelming and sometimes a tad complicated. Plus, I'm opinionated at times.

WRAP Inventions

The most likely to become a reality in the next 20 years would be the "Milenium Computer Watch" some of the technology has already been invented and it may be more convienient to invent. The least likely to be invented is the "Eye Computer" because of the extreme complication with different eyes and the problems it could cause. I would definitely invest in the Milenium computer watch and the Eco-PAC jet pack just for the thought of being more "Green"

Wrap: Tech Power!

I appreciate the touch screen devices: phones, cameras, portable and non portable devices. 20 years ago the idea of touch screen was just a thought bubble. They had big phones and CD players and radios. In the future though, I want devices that can pull up a picture and you can literally pull out the image to look at it, a hologram if you will. For that to occur holograms need to be created first and then I would imagine the technology to morph and shape then stabilize the images would need to be invented.

So far

Well this week has been long! The thought being put into it isn't really hard it's just having to apply most of our skills in the way we do can get a bit challenging. I dislike the fact that mr. Tylers project keeps being wrong but I keep using the same formula he gives me and yet it keeps turning out wrong. Obviously either something is wrong on my part of something is a miss here. I feel like the skills we are learning in mr. Wions class are going to be helpful in the future but the class can get a tad droll after a while but that's what happens in life so I'm not particularly worried. I want to write poems though :) :) their the best way to covet the heart and it makes me happy! That's what I want at the moment, but until then I'm satisfied. The kids though are entertaining they make me laugh. I enjoy this... So far.

I won't give up

The song I won't give up is so amazing! I feel so strongly about it. Every romantic thought and dream you could possibly have about someone is relayed in this song. I love how he shows the meaning of love in this song and it really speaks to the soul :)

Books I will read in the future

  • The Future Of Us
  • Why We Broke Up
  • 13 Reasons Why
  • Fifty Shades Darker
  • Heroes Of Olympus Series
  • I am Number Four*********
  • The Power Of Six**********
  • The Rise Of Nine**********

The Psychology of Evil Video

The video on evil in my opinion was well put together and quite descriptive, but i didn't believe in some of the ideas. The thought that people are born evil is incorrect! No man can be born anything, everyone is born and is immediately shaped into an individual person with distinct characteristics about them that make them who they are. Secondly the idea that people can be truly evil is not possible! When people live their life they go through a series of good and bad experiences. Now people who are "good" have had a dominating amount of good experiences but they still have the ideas of evil in their hearts. The people who are "evil" have had a dominating amount of bad events in their life and they become the way they are. They still however have the good memories and experiences making pieces of their hearts good in nature. They just bury the good under all the misery and unhappiness. That is why i believe people can never be truly evil!

MaMa Lit.

My book (If I Stay) is an eye catcher to me! I love the book it is quite entertaining, I happen to love the idea's of being musically involved considering that I am also. Mostly though I don't believe that this relates to the psych. of evil it may be connected with the way some of them died, but the idea that Zimbardo was trying to relay was not directly related to my book in any way.

WRAP

  • Cross Country
  • Choir
  • Poetry*

Poetry is a form of expression through words. It is a voice that is sometimes not often heard and can be quite entertaining. Poetry can come in many forms and shows a persons heart even when it is hidden under the darkest of clouds. Here is an exert out of a poem I once wrote not too long ago:
Can you understand what i'm saying

In this world maybe a heart is worth caring for
Or you notice how a mind is well wasted
Maybe you notice how the credited are not fully credited
Or how the happy have no way of fully being happy
I bet you notice that mean is a state of mind
Mean, not who you are but how you act
I just hope you can understand what i'm saying

Me

When I was born the fires of a thousand suns became visible and the darkness was then shattered creating peace everlasting and as the rains of diverging centerpieces fell, the doctor said " let this child be blessed and go forth to be fruitful." and it was so.
